How easily we forget who gives us all things according to the pleasure of His will. Instead, we rest on our laurels, pat ourselves on our backs believing that we’ve made it or that we’ve got it all under control.
But we forget who blesses and curses, who raises up and brings low, gives and takes away. In our self-satisfaction, we forget who snatched us from the clutches of sin, Satan and hell and adopted us as His children and made us joint-heirs with His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ the Lord.
Who is the Lord of life, King or Kings, the All-knowing, wise and sovereign One? He is the ever-lasting God, the just and merciful God who loves us.
He is the one in control of our lives, of the universe. What are we without Him? Who are we without Him?
May God take us down a notch or two or more, even all the way until we acknowledge our standing in Him because of His son, until we embrace and live like we believe with all our hearts that all that we are and have are from Him and without Him we are doomed to living our lives in despair and spending eternity forever separated from Him.
